Tic-errific Me follows the story of a young girl sharing what it is like to live with Tourette’s. Throughout the story, she shares her journey of accepting all of her tics (verbal and motor) as a part of who she is.
As an avid reader with Tourette’s, accepting my tics has been a challenge for as long as I can remember. Tic-errific Me might be directed to helping kids understand a variety of disabilities, but I strongly feel this is a book any adult should read as well. It made me feel so seen and understood. I truly wish I had access to a book like this as a kid; it would have made such a positive impact on my childhood as someone growing up with Tourette’s.
I would strongly recommend that those who want to have a better understanding of Tourette’s, those who have a child with Tourette’s, or honestly anyone and everyone, read this book. Tic-errific Me will be the book I reach for as a tool to help explain this disability and to share what living with Tourette’s is like.
